Well, I finally gave in and created a page on Facebook for TreeFeathers Miniatures, so I hope you'll join as a fan! I added a badge for the page in the navigation menu here (left side) to make it even easier. I also added a tab for 'Life in Miniature' to the page so you can read this blog without ever leaving Facebook!
I'm going to do a drawing next Saturday for everyone who signs on as a fan. The prize will be a 6-volume set of TreeFeathers Miniatures books - the subject of your choice (cookbooks, gardening, children's books, Christmas, etc.) So be sure to get over there and sign up!
I also created a Facebook group, just for fun: Miniaturists: Visionaries with Short Attention Spans. You can post photos, participate in discussions, and keep up on the latest mini news on Facebook!

eBay store is open again! |
I've finally got my eBay store up and running again, so pop on over and check it out! I'm listing a bunch of new items, including the Twilight series books and some new Agatha Christie sets that I'm pretty excited about. I'll be adding stuff for the next day or two, so be sure and check back!

Tilt-Shift Your World |
I've posted before about miniature art that's disconcertingly real, or that makes use of optical illusion to great effect. Well here's a twist that turns that whole thing on its head: tilt-shift photography. It's a unique art that uses camera lenses and Photoshop to make life-size locations or subjects look like miniature models. A shallow depth of field and high color saturation are key to creating the illusion.
The photos below are linked to their sources where you can see more amazing photographs, or check out this article at Smashing Magazine.

Let's Go Way Back Challenge |
Doreen has issued a challenge on her blog (right when I was trying to think of something to post about) so I'm taking her up on it! "Everyone find a picture of yourself when you were young and let's see how adorable we all were."
So here's my Waaaay Back photo - picking mushrooms when we lived in Alaska, early 1970s. Even then I looked pissed off! :P
So who's next?

Vampires and Werewolves and Redheads, Oh My! |

I've also added several other new miniature books to the inventory, including a gorgeous original-design Astronomy book that's sure to impress and some classic 1940s science-fiction.
For the kids' rooms there's a beautiful new Victorian fairytale, 'Princess Nobody,' and one that's been on my List a long time - Pippi Longstocking! I've created this one with the original Swedish title (Pippi Långstrump) as well as an English version. You can even get it in Danish, Norwegian, or Finnish!
These miniature books all have blank pages, but they do open for display if you so desire. Stop by the store and take a look!

Miniature Printies: Vintage Sheet Music and Ads |
Happy New Year! A few original printies for you to kick off 2010. Some vintage advertisements, and sheet music and cover for "Auld Lang Syne."
Save the images below to your hard drive and print them out with your own graphics program, or print them straight from the web (just open image in a new window and set your print preferences to scale it to 33%.) Print at high-quality, and use heavy paper or light cardstock for the ads and music booklet cover.
Use a lighter-weight paper for the music sheets. Cut out, fold down the center, and glue into the cover. Alternately you can cut the two pages of music out separately and have them loose inside the cover.
Enjoy!
